Tudor Rose is recruiting a new Head of Editorial to manage a team responsible for content for its three publication brands (The Record, Cruise & Ferry Review and Golf Course Architecture) and various other projects, including periodical publications for external clients.
Responsibilities involve:
- Editorial direction – setting the editorial structure and tone for all publication brands and providing input into how they can be shaped to grow audiences and for commercial success.
- Allocating workload – planning publications and sharing writing assignments appropriately between our in-house team of four writers and network of freelancers.
- Quality control – providing feedback on all content produced by authors to ensure that final drafts are of a quality suitable for publication.
- Writing – producing content for all publications and marketing services projects.
- Representing Tudor Rose – and its publication brands in client meetings, at industry events and in face-to-face interviews.
- Management, recruitment and training – to ensure that all members of the Tudor Rose editorial team can produce work of a high standard.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Be an experienced journalist and highly skilled writer who can produce engaging copy that meets a client’s brief.
- Have a deep commercial awareness of what is required to make publishing projects successful and the crucial role editorial plays.
- Have outstanding organisational skills to cope with the delivery of content from multiple authors, for multiple publications and across multiple platforms (print, web, social media).
- Be able to mentor and motivate a team of writers, maximising the quality and quantity of their output and helping them to achieve career satisfaction.
- Manage a network of freelance writers and the sourcing of external content effectively within the available budgets.
- Have existing knowledge and experience of some/all the sectors in which we operate.
- Be able to collaborate successfully with other publishing functions including sales and design teams.
This is a full-time position and the successful candidate will be required to work from our office in the centre of Leicester.
The salary offered is £35,000 to £45,000 pa, depending on experience.
