The International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) 1990- 1999 was a United Nations initiative to reduce the negative effects of natural disasters. To commemorate the end of the IDNDR, the United Nations wanted to publish a book to stimulate the communication of solutions to the problems associated with natural disasters in order to improve methods of protecting people and property.

Tudor Rose was selected to publish the book, titled Natural Disaster Management, and embarked on a two-year project that included recruiting sponsors for the book, gathering contributions, editing and proof-reading contributed articles, coordinating the structure of the publication with the Secretariat of the United Nations IDNDR and overseeing the print and distribution of the 320 page volume.

In addition to publishing an impressive volume that exceeded the expectations of the contributing authors, the work undertaken by Tudor Rose helped to raise the profile of the IDNDR initiative to a wider audience. Terry Jeggle of the United Nations says: “By publishing Natural Disaster Management, Tudor Rose has made significant contributions in its partnership working with the IDNDR, both in spreading an important message widely through acquired knowledge and the high quality of the communication. The book has continued to be recognised professionally as an excellent accomplishment.”
