Together We Stand – out now
25 April 2016
Together We Stand is published through an innovative public-private partnership between Tudor Rose and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), to coincide with the first World Humanitarian Summit (Istanbul, 23-24 May 2016). This fully illustrated, 168-page book brings together the knowledge, experiences and expertise of organisations and individuals who are striving to find better ways to meet the needs of millions of people affected by conflicts and disasters in our rapidly changing world.
The number of people in need of humanitarian assistance has nearly doubled in the past decade, and each day we are faced with fresh stories detailing the challenges that confront us as an international community. Millions of people are displaced, and their lives and livelihoods threatened by crises ranging from the effects of climate change and weather-related disasters to conflicts and pandemics that threaten us all. No single country or organization can deal with these issues alone. Collective action and partnership are the only ways to truly tackle these global, interconnected issues.
Together We Stand draws upon experiences around the world at international, regional, national and local levels of activity. It brings together inspiring stories from humanitarian actors in a vast range of situations and communities, displaying the extent and variety of their efforts to empower people to better prepare for and respond to crises, and be more resilient to shocks. By focusing on the experiences and livelihoods of people, especially those in vulnerable human habitats, the book shows the benefits of best policy and practices, and how these may develop further as we come to terms with an increasingly turbulent world.
Limited edition copies are available at US $125.00 each, inclusive of shipping.
